About This Game Take control of a settlement of the first modern humans, guide them through the ages in their struggle for survival.Dawn of Man is a survival/city-builder from the creators of Planetbase. The game starts in the Stone Age, and takes you up to the Iron Age, spanning more than 10,000 years of human prehistory. You will have to get your people to survive, expand and evolve, just like our ancestors, facing the challenges that the environment will throw at you.HuntAnimals were a vital source of food and resources for ancient humans. Use their meat to feed your people and their skin and bones to make clothing and craft the tools you will need to stay alive. Confront Mammoths, Woolly Rhinos, Ancient Bison, Megaloceros, Cave Lions and other species that roamed the earth at the time.GatherCollect a variety resources from the environment: fruit, berries, water, wood, flint, stone, ores. Use them to prepare food, to make tools and to build structures in your settlement.Plan for harsh timesFish is more abundant in spring, berries and fruit can be collected in summer and animals are easier to come by when it's warm. Its simple, but tough.. I have tried liking this game, I honestly have. The concept is interesting, however the game seems hellbent on doing anything it can to annoy me. Every game so far that I have started goes really well, that is until I decide to expand. This is where the game really shines in finding new and interesting ways to make my people do everything in the most inefficient manner possible, and sure you can micro manage them, but that is no excuse for bad AI. If our ancestors were this stupid, we would have long since gone extinct.. So far I am finding this one of the most adictive and interesting games to date that I have purchased. I have only been playing it in normal speed taking my time trying to achive the number of animal kills and builds the game sets forth for extra points for the tech tree before moving on to later periods of tech and time and not to move onto other types of animals either. Playing in normal mode so far. Hungry Lion prides, protective mother bears and wolves oh my! Seeing the changes in animal migrations people and animal behavier learning to take advantage of animal kills for resorces and more. I strongly sugest using the Primal vision often and watch to see if wolf packs or Lion Prides are keeping other animals away from your people which can make it hard to get skins, meat and bones for use. Sometimes they help drive them to your people other times they can keep them away from you. Mamoth's and other heavy Herbavor's defend their young fiercly and often leave dead preditor's for you to scavange Primal Vision will help you see and find all of these situations. The visuals and dynamics of the game are great and getting better with each update the Developers are putting out. With only playing in 1x speed never speeding up and enjoying the game the way it is meant to be it will take a long time to reach the later dates in time and I will fully get to enjoy all it has to offer and understand all the time period changes. Only things I see missing is the stone age start living in caves and using leanto's and bone weapons and rocks the bronze age in the tech tree needs leather armor as well and then to steel armor in later times with shields too. One last sugeston please remember to sound the warning horn when a raiding party is close to your village your domesticated dog's and all armed villagers will attack them together while all unarmed people head to the huts for cover and stay safe. Those domesticated dog's will be your best fighters against all attackers animal and human alike. While some things are missing there is no doubt it covers a lot and is very enjoyable to me at least and I have played a lot of games over the years of this type and can not find a lot of fault with it. You will find more fault with my spelling I am sure after my strokes! LOL. Great game for anyone who likes building strategy games, has a lot of potential for the future, modding etc.. It's okay but not great. Gets pretty boring after a bit. There's little challenge even at the very beginning, There's no attachment to the pawns - they're completely interchangeable. If one dies, you'll just get another soon. The controls and interface are clunky.. Really cool game, definately room for improvements. The early to mid game feels pretty satisfying but late game seems like a lot of what you do is not very consequential. In regards to the later metals and the later end of the knowledge tree, just a bit lacking there. Great game tho,i really like and i hope they improve and add lots to it.. Concept good, gameplay is solid and bug free. Way too easy. This game could be as good as banished if it were just difficult, its kindof a slog with no real challenge. Relaxing though.. If I were to judge humanity's first steps based on Dawn of Man, I'd have to say we tried really hard TO DIE. I mean, in Dawn of Man, the rules of survival are pretty basic, hunt = eat, grow grains = eat\/feed livestock = eat, defend yourself = you won't die. But as easy as it sounds, the interface doesn't really give you the option to micro manage to the level of each person, it does give you the ability, but you can't really play the game this way. So you just manage your community... and then you find you stupid population doing idiotic moves that kills them. like walking miles away from the settlement in the middle of a blizzard for no apparent reason, or going to pick wild berries right next to a bear, or going to drink from the river... next to a lion! Is it too much to ask for a population with a little bit of self-thinking? Don't get me wrong, I love the game, and it has great potential, but it's just frustrating when instead of finishing goals quickly you lose hours because your people don't understand that picking crops s more important than praying to a totem! =\\. This game is very good and has a bright future, the devs are also brilliant. The reason i cannot reccomend as its just boring with the content available right now. Its fun for a couple hours and then your just going through the stages but nothing changes, you just get better houses etc but for no real reason. Hopefully this game will get more content soon so i will be able to reccomend.
